What is an AVGS and who can use it for coaching?
AVGS stands for Aktivierungs- und Vermittlungsgutschein, an activation and placement voucher. It may make suitable coaching for entering employment possible, for example to prepare for self-employment, apply for jobs or explore career options. Your employment agency or jobcentre decides in each case whether to issue a voucher for a particular goal.
How do I ask my employment agency or jobcentre about a voucher?
Tell your employment adviser your goal and what support you need. Ask about an AVGS for a suitable programme with an approved provider. The responsible authority checks whether it can issue a voucher and what conditions it will include.
I have an AVGS. What happens next?
Together, we compare the goal, validity, duration and any regional restriction on your voucher with the coaching offered. If they match, we prepare the documents needed for assessment by the responsible authority. Coaching begins only after its written approval.
When is coaching free for me?
An AVGS programme approved in writing before it starts has no programme fee for you. Ask your employment agency or jobcentre in advance whether it can cover additional expenses, such as travel or childcare.
Can I participate online throughout Germany?
Online coaching is possible if the specific programme is approved for that format and your AVGS permits it. We check the programme goal, voucher validity and any regional restrictions in particular. Written approval is required to confirm participation.
What will we work on in startup coaching?
Depending on your goal and the approved programme, we may review your business idea, target group, market and competitors. We develop a business model, prices and financial plan; a business plan may result. The actual topics depend on your project and the programme.
Are an AVGS and a startup grant the same thing?
No. An AVGS may fund a suitable coaching programme. The Gründungszuschuss, or startup grant, is a separate allowance for living costs when starting a business from unemployment benefits. It has its own conditions and application process at the employment agency. An AVGS does not mean the startup grant has been approved.
Can I also contact without a voucher?
Yes. Tell me where you are and what you want to achieve. We can first discuss which path might suit you. We will separately discuss whether a specific coaching programme is available without an approved AVGS and under what terms.
